Wrap them in packing paper and stack them
Packing paper is slightly more durable and can protect your boots from any scuffs or marks that could be made by other items in your suitcase. Start with a corner of the paper at the middle point of the boot and roll until the boots are covered in paper, do this individually per boot so each is wrapped separately.
Keep them lay flat to avoid creasing
The worst thing you can do is roll or scrunch tall boots, this is a sure way to create creasing and cracks, especially for leather boots. Lay them flat along the side of your suitcase, in a way which isn’t putting any pressure on them or squashing them. This will keep the material intact and reduce risk of cracks or creases.
Lie one boot upside down opposite the other
To save space it usually works best to lay one boot upside down opposite the other, creating a small gap in the middle. You can use this inside space between the boots to store other small items for maximizing your luggage space, belts or gloves may fit well in these gaps.
Stuff the inside with packing paper to keep shape
Not just great for protecting the outer of your boots, packing paper is versatile and is a perfect filler to pad out your boots for maintaining shape. If laid flat, you can fill the inside of your boots with paper to keep the shape and avoid them being squashed down by the other items in your suitcase. Just a bit of paper is enough, don’t over fill the boots and risk stretching the material.
Keep them in a zipped compartment
Sectioning your clothing items makes perfect sense, not only does it keep different types of clothing protected but it makes life so much easier when unpacking and allows you to easily reach certain items when getting ready. Make use of a separate zipped compartment, if space allows it then place your tall boots in here. Alternately, purchase packing cubes to create your own dividers within your suitcase.
