There’s more to Hong Kong than meets the eye. World renowned as Asia's nightlife capital and one of the world's leading centres of finance, Hong Kong also encompasses a thriving world of sport. On 22 October 2023, the Cyclothon, Hong Kong's greatest international cycling event, will return, with 5,000 participants from all around the world, racing through streets and roads, lined with cheering spectators. Onlookers will be able to witness the skills of nearly 100 professional cyclists, including more than ten UCI WorldTour teams and pro continental teams such as Jayco-AlUla from Australia and Corratec-Selle Italia from Italy, competing for the champion's jersey and prize money.

Over its three-tunnel, three-bridge 30 and 50-kilometre circuits, which feature roads and thoroughfares available only to cyclists, the world-class event provides outstanding views of Hong Kong's city skyline and natural scenery. Visitors travel from all over the world to take part, watch and enjoy one of the world’s most exciting sporting events of the year.

The Cyclothon is only one of many outdoor offerings that travellers can partake in whilst visiting Hong Kong. The vast array of exciting, unique sports the city has to offer is endless, but travellers should keep an eye out for these upcoming sporting events. The Hong Kong Streetathon taking place over the festive period, with 20,000 expected partakers is sure to challenge any runner. Alternatively, runners can hit the streets in Hong Kong on 21 January 2024 for one of the region’s most significant running events: the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon. This popular event will once again encompass a marathon, half-marathon and 10-kilometre run. Hong Kong also offers a variety of water sports, rock climbing and bike routes for all skill levels.
