Smashed it! Devon holiday park tops target for helping hospice

BIG-HEARTED GUESTS, staff and the family owners of Beverley Holidays in Paignton have smashed a fundraising target it set on behalf of a local charity.

The multi-award winning park originally pledged to bring in a £1,000 donation for Torbay's Rowcroft Hospice during its 40th anniversary year.

But after the takings from a series of fun events were counted up, Beverley found it had created a massive £3,088 windfall for the cause.

The park was one of 40 local businesses which came together with a commitment to raise £1,000 each to provide much-needed funds for the hospice.

Beverley Holidays' entertainment team took on the charity challenge, staging a series of lighthearted events aimed at encouraging guests and owners to dig deep into their pockets.

They included fundraising fancy dress nights in the park's popular Starlight Bar, each with a different theme ranging from a carefree carnival to a celebration of the 1980s.

Owners of holiday homes at Beverley also pitched in by supporting Rowcroft Hospice with their well-attended annual Party in the Park event.

Entertainment Manager Paul Farley said it was fantastic to see everyone coming together and having a great time in support of a very worthy cause.

"As our chosen charity for 2022, we were thrilled to join up with Rowcroft Hospice for their fortieth birthday and show our support for their highly valued work.

"We were delighted to smash our original target and go on to raise more than £3,000 in total for a cause which is close to Beverley Holidays' heart.

"We owe a big thank-you to everyone for their kind donations, and to members of the park's entertainment team for all their hard work," added Paul.

Over its 40-year history,  Rowcroft Hospice has grown to become a leading charity in South Devon, caring annually for more than 2,000 people with life-limiting illness.

And in 2023, family-run Beverley Holidays is blowing out its own birthday candles as it celebrates 65 years of welcoming guests to South Devon.

Set in the heart of the English Riviera, the park provides boutique holiday caravans, luxury sea view lodges, year-round camping and touring, and a wealth of facilities and attractions.
