Aware of the impact generated by single-use plastic and as part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability, Thailand’s 56-room boutique residence, The Sarojin, has removed all plastic water bottles and one-use amenities from the resort. From now on, all guests will be provided with a complimentary reusable water bottle at check in to use during their stay - and take home if they wish - and amenities at all residences have been replaced with stylish ceramic refillable dispensers.

The use of plastic water bottles at The Sarojin was already limited as in 2019 the resort invested in an on-site water bottling plant and replaced plastic bottles with glass reusable bottles in all guest residences and meetings rooms. However, there were instances when plastic bottles were used such as airport transfers, excursions and Lady Sarojin boat trips and with the introduction of reusable water bottles, this will no longer be the case. Several refill stations have been installed throughout the resort´s grounds for guests to top up their bottles as needed with a choice of normal water and a selection of flavour infused waters available, including jasmine flower and lime on Mondays and green apple and thyme on Sundays.

Additionally, one-use amenities have been replaced with refillable ceramic dispensers, whilst continuing to use the luxurious products by the sustainable skincare brand JUKU, whose ethos is to offer a natural sensory experience that brings back balance to body and mind. JUKU’s products use the finest natural ingredients including some of the most exquisite essential oils and herb extracts with the selection of aromatic products available at The Sarojin including rosemary and lavender shampoo, rosemary and lavender conditioner, lavender and tea tree body wash, patchouli bath foam, patchouli and charcoal bath salts and lavender body lotion.

The Sarojin has been committed to sustainability since its inception and runs several energy-conserving, sustainable water and waste reduction initiatives but, the introduction of these two products has enabled the resort to completely eliminate its use of plastic bottles. In fact, The Sarojin was recently awarded Best Hotel at the Responsible Thailand Awards 2022, which recognise organisations for their green initiatives and tireless efforts to promote sustainable tourism.     The boutique residence has earned itself an outstanding reputation for supporting community projects with ongoing initiatives such as the recently launched ‘One Booking One Tree’, which supports local mangrove reforestations programmes; The Sarojin Cares Days, which see staff and guests that wish to volunteer work with the community to support an array of well-deserving projects; and The Sarojin Khao Lak Community Fund, a community fund directing and administering funds to various elements of Khao Lak’s development.
