Top tips for St Lucia

As travel slowly becomes more accessible to us all I thought I would share some information on the holiday destinations that are proving popular for later this year and into 2022, starting with St Lucia.

The island of Saint Lucia with turquoise waters, snow-white sands against a backdrop of tropical forest and the iconic Pitons, it’s easy to see why many fall in love with this island. Saint Lucia welcomes visitors, not only with its beautiful landscape, but with the warmest locals, most amazing food a load of activities for both families and couples, looking to escape reality and enjoy moments of pure bliss together in an island paradise.

With a 9 hour flight you can be enjoying sunshine all year round in tempertures always in the late 20s!

Little ones will love the soft white sand in Saint Lucia, giving them loads of space to play and have fun, whether that’s building sand castles and gathering shells, or taking a dip in the ocean to play in the gentle waves. For animal-lovers, Anse Chastanet Beach is a great snorkelling spot, allowing all ages to come up close to the beautiful coral reef and the rainbow of marine life.

For a break from the Caribbean sun, head into the jungle on a guided tour, in which a local nature expert will lead you through the island’s native flora and fauna, or explore the forest by bike. To get up amongst the forest canopy, enjoy a thrilling zipline excursion or rope bridge walk.

Board a pirate ship and set sail in search of the 20 species of dolphins and whales that inhabit the waters, try your hand at stand-up paddleboarding to view the island from a different perspective out at sea, or head out on a fishing boat for a relaxed day.

Relax on miles of soft sand beaches under the sun, set sail on a champagne sunset cruise, dine by candlelight on a private beach listening to the rollling waves, and take a mud bath at Sulphur Springs in Soufrière.

Here are some more suggestions on what you can do in St Lucia:

Visit Pigeon Island - Once a lookout point during the battles between British and French forces, Pigeon Island is now a historic monument that you can explore and head to the stunning viewpoint.

Party at the Gros Islet Jump Up - The fishing village of Gros Islet plays host to a street party every Friday night. Expect cold beers, delicious barbecued food and giant speakers blasting out dance hall and other styles of Caribbean music.

Take a boat trip to Marigot Bay - Head to the heavenly Marigot Bay, where human influence is minimal, leaving nature to maintain its hold and create the most picturesque bay in the Caribbean.

Climb a Piton - The iconic Pitons of the island are no easy trek due to their steep sides, but if you have climbing experience and are up for a challenge, the views at the top are well worth it.

Chase waterfalls - Saint Lucia has many scenic waterfalls that you can visit and bathe under in the depths of the rainforest.
