Experience Travel Group pioneers ‘tip-inclusive’ holidays

Asia specialist tour operator Experience Travel Group (ETG) has ended the age-old issue of what to tip those who make holidays memorable by introducing inclusive tips into their prices.

The London-based agent is one of the first tour operators in the UK – if not the only one – to introduce ‘tip inclusive’ holidays that will ‘reward’ guides, drivers and other experience providers in their destination and will be split fairly between each provider.

The move does away with discretionary tips decided by the client and will instead be a fixed sum based on the length and style of trip. However, if the client feels that they did not receive satisfactory service they are entitled to a full refund of the tip on their return.

ETG has taken this bold initiative on the back of feedback from previous clients, with 80 per cent of those interviewed supporting the move to tipping-inclusive holidays.

It has been backed even more by the beneficiaries, with almost 90 per cent of Asia-based guides in strong support viewing it as fairer and providing greater job security.

Sam Clark, managing director and co-founder of Experience Travel Group, said: “This initiative is truly ground-breaking for the travel industry. Going ‘tip-inclusive’ is fairer for our customers and for our valued guides, drivers and other local employees.

“Our clients will receive an upfront cost that better reflects the real cost of the holiday. Best of all, it will remove that often difficult and sometimes stressful moment when you wonder when, how and what amount should I tip this guide!”
