ABTA’s top tips for travel to green list holiday destination Croatia

With Croatia having joined the Government’s Green list for holiday's on Monday this week, ABTA – The Travel Association offers its top tips for travelling there this summer.

Less than three hours from the UK by plane, Croatia offers an impressive island-speckled coastline, ancient walled towns, a buzzing restaurant and bar scene, and good value for British holidaymakers. The weather is typically hot and dry over the summer months, which is perfect for spending long days by the pool or going island hopping in the Adriatic Sea.

Rabac Adriatic Sea Istria Croatia Travel From Monday 26 July 2021, all travellers from the UK will need to provide proof of a negative PCR test not older than 72 hours or a negative antigen test not older than 48 hours, regardless of vaccination status or recovery from COVID-19.  When returning to the UK, holidaymakers will need to take a pre-departure test in the three days before returning to the UK and a PCR test on or before day two of their return.

Travel to Croatia – what you need to know:

  • You will need to complete an online entry form before you travel to Croatia.
  • On arrival, you will need to show one of the following documents:
    • Proof of a negative COVID-19 antigen test result not older than 48 hours
    • Proof of a negative PCR test result not older than 72 hours
    • NB - Children under 12 who are accompanied by a parent/guardian are exempt from testing and self-isolation requirements on entry if their parent or guardian has one of the documents set out above.
  • You are advised to check the Foreign Office advice for Croatia before travelling.
  • You may be asked to show a copy of your accommodation booking when arriving in Croatia.
  • When travelling home, you will need to take a COVID-19 test before you leave Croatia and another PCR test on or before day two of your return to the UK. The day two test must have been booked and paid for upon entry.
  • You will need to complete a Passenger Locator Form before you return to the UK.
  • Croatia has been added to the Green watchlist for England, which means it could move to the Amber list.

ABTA’s checklist for travelling with confidence includes:

  • Use the expertise of an ABTA Member to help plan your trip and navigate the latest advice and book a package holiday for the greatest level of protection.
  • Check the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office advice for your destination to find the latest entry requirements and local rules relating to Coronavirus.
  • Check the Government’s traffic light list to find out what you need to do for your journey back to the UK.
  • Take out travel insurance as soon as you book and check its cover for Coronavirus.
  • Make sure all your travel documents are in order, e.g. your passport validity meets entry requirements and you’ve applied for the visas you need.
  • Research the new measures that will be in place on your journey and in-destination, e.g. the rules around face coverings and social distancing.
