With pet travel clearly on the up, and organisations competing to entice the short-break dog market by offering gimmicks, Tewkesbury Park set in 165 acres of undulating parkland and commanding far-reaching views of the Malvern Hills and beyond, has taken the decision to complement its existing dog-friendly offering, by creating six brand-new dog-friendly rooms.

All rooms come with the practical necessities needed to ensure the dog's requirements are met. A private fully-enclosed terrace has been added to each room, with a surrounding glass balustrade which allows your pooch the freedom to stretch out and look out across the magnificent Gloucestershire countryside. For convenience, rooms can be accessed via the terrace with a key, so guests don't have to walk through the hotel.  A doggy wash area with a shower is located just outside the terraces - perfect to wash down after those muddy walks. Not forgetting humans, wellies (cleaned by housekeeping) will be placed in the rooms beforehand, ensuring winter walks can be enjoyed without the worry of not having the correct seasonal footwear.

Inside, rooms have been opulently appointed by reputed interior designer, ADS-Design, who have skilfully drawn upon the Tewkesbury surrounds by working to subtly weave in warm country tones into fabrics and soft furnishings that complement carefully sourced modern fixtures and fittings, conveying a rich and distinguished countryside ambience, even down to ceramics made by local ceramist and artist Jane Overbury.  All rooms have been fitted with wood flooring, so any accidental mishaps can be easily dealt with.

The creation of the rooms were carried out by local family firm, EG Carter of Gloucester, who have cleverly utilized the property's historic features, by respecting the original structures, yet have woven in a contemporary style. Keltie & Clark, distinguished Cheltenham-based garden designers have instilled a calming sanctuary to the terraces, providing the perfect accompaniment for a sun-downer!

Commenting; Patrick Jones, general manager, said: "We have been welcoming dogs for a while now and do go the extra mile to make sure they have just a good time as their two-legged guardians do, however, we recognise there continues to be a growing number of guests requiring premium facilities, that doesn't just mean a room with a dog basket and other quirky add-ons. The new dog-friendly rooms have been designed to provide everything the guest's dog needs and more.."

Prices for the dog-friendly rooms cost £258 including breakfast, (based on double occupancy) a memory-foam dog-bed, food & water bowls and treats. When dining in the dog-friendly Piano Lounge, breakfast and dinner is included for your dog.
