Hot Hotel Re-openings: Fowey Hall, one of Cornwall’s renowned luxury family-focused hotels to undergo a milestone relaunch this Spring

A multi-million pound refurbishment and expansion will offer new rooms, suites and an outdoor pool

Fowey Hall, a historic Victorian mansion overlooking the Fowey estuary and part of Luxury Family Hotels collection, will relaunch in late Spring, positioning it as one of the leading family hotels in Cornwall. After a full property refurbishment in 2020, a further 20 contemporary bedrooms will be added and - the jewel in the crown - four expansive new Bay Suites will sit atop the renovated spa, with commanding sea views from elevated, private balconies. The suites, taking a consciously ‘quiet’ approach to detailing that allows the view to be the main focus, are contemporary in design and boast natural, earthy materials and textures that are perfectly complemented by warm accents of brass and burnt orange upholstery. A new outdoor pool will also open with sea views, making Fowey Hall one of the very few luxury hotels on the south Cornish coast to offer this facility.

Fowey Hall is part of Luxury Family Hotels, a collection of five family-focused properties across southern England. From babies through to teens, expectant parents to grandparents and even dog owners, all age groups and families of every genre are thoughtfully considered and catered for with an incredible range of amenities and facilities. From a milk butler service with the delivery of sterilised and heated bottles of milk and the provision of all the equipment parents could need, to a dedicated children’s library and cinema with daily screenings complete with popcorn, Fowey Hall encourages families to spend quality time together, safe in the knowledge that all the little things are taken care of.

Fowey Hall also offers 90 minutes of complimentary childcare per night’s stay at their on-site Ofsted-registered Four Bears Den, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a newly refurbished spa with treatments from organic seaweed skincare brand, Ishga and a shaded outdoor play area in view of the hotel’s terrace. The restaurant features classic dishes for the whole family, with ingredients from local suppliers and a focus on seafood, as well as an intimate bar overlooking the sea and cosy lounges for evening cocktails once the children are tucked up in bed, watching a film in the cinema room or playing with friends in the games room.

The hotel is located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a few minutes walk away from the fishing port of Fowey, which offers renowned restaurants such as Fitzroy (from the team behind Primeur, Jolene and Western’s Laundry) and Appleton’s (from Andy Appleton, former head chef at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall) alongside numerous art galleries and boutiques. 10 minutes walk away lies the sheltered cove of ReadyMoney, with sandy shores and calm, shallow waters complete with an anchored bathing platform in the summer months. The hotel will furnish families with buckets, spades and fishing nets for a day spent at the beach.
