Darwin Escapes to open gateway to historic Oxfordshire with Blenheim Palace Retreat

Darwin Escapes has unveiled detailed plans for its Blenheim Palace Lodge Retreat, a collection of luxury holiday lodges in the heart of Oxfordshire, as it prepares to open the new holiday accommodation for Summer 2023.

Launched in partnership with Blenheim Palace, the retreat will place guests on the doorstep of the county’s rich heritage – with the palace itself, birthplace of British hero Sir Winston Churchill, just minutes away.

Each lodge will come fully equipped with its own kitchen, bathroom, dining and living areas to ensure holidaymakers have everything they need for a perfect getaway. In keeping with Darwin Escapes’ commitment to sustainability, each building will be fully electric and fitted with air-source heat pumps, whilst charging facilities for electric cars will also be available.

Nestled beside the estate’s 2000-acre grounds, lodge guests will have easy access to Blenheim Palace and the picturesque village of Woodstock. The retreat’s central location makes it the ideal hub for any Oxfordshire holiday, with a vast range of historical sites, family attractions and landmarks within easy driving distance.

The city of Oxford itself sits only five miles away from the new lodges, with its world-famous university drawing in millions of visitors a year. There’s also a plethora of beautiful walks, pubs and eateries to choose from for guests looking for the comprehensive Oxfordshire experience.

Darwin Escapes are one of the UK’s leading providers of holiday venues, operating dozens of popular, award-winning resorts and retreats around the country. Blenheim Palace Lodge Retreat will be its second development in Oxfordshire, following the 2021 investment in The Springs Resort and Golf Club.

Roger File, Chief Operations Officer and Property Director at Blenheim Palace Estate, said: ''We are proud to be working with Darwin Escapes and are looking forward to them opening next year. We think the product and opportunity they bring to this partnership will support the local tourism economy and enable people to enjoy the area and Blenheim Palace for longer.”

Drew Campbell, operations director of Darwin Escapes, said: “It is brilliant to have this project underway at what is a wonderful location. We are incredibly thankful for the support that Blenheim Palace have offered throughout this process, and we look forward to seeing the lodges open next year!”

Darwin Escapes currently operates 24 holiday resorts and three golf courses across the UK, offering a mixture of beach, city and countryside breaks as well as holiday home ownership.

Bookings will open soon and guests wishing to register for updates about the retreat should visit https://darwinescapes.co.uk/blenheim-palace/ to be the first to hear about booking a stay at Blenheim Palace Lodge Retreat.
