Following the recent removal of travel testing requirements in the UK and other countries around the globe, Newmarket Holidays is seeing a growing demand for 2022 bookings with a blend of late sales and “on-trend” bookings.

The scrapping of the Passenger Locator Form (PLF) for international arrivals to the UK has been the final step towards a smoother path for the travel industry this year. In addition, clearer travel regulations have seen a rise in customers paying their balances and booking either their first or second 2022 holiday.

Richard Forde of Head of Trade Sales said; “It’s evident that customer confidence has really increased in the last few months, and they’re now eager to make up for lost time, specifically this year. This will be the first restriction-free summer that we’ve experienced in two years, so it’s understandable why customers are keen to take advantage of “late” and “on-trend” offers. In the last 2 weeks, 70% of bookings are for holidays departing in 2022 and 50% of those are departing in the next 16 weeks. ”

The UK adopted the ‘Living with Covid-19’ plan from the 1st of April, just in time for the Easter holidays. Popular European destinations are also making moves towards gaining a sense of normality in the build-up to the summer holidays, and countries like Portugal, Spain and Italy have removed the regulation to take a pre-departure test for arrivals from the UK.

Richard Forde continued “As we emerge from the winter, we think many customers are now in full holiday planning mode for the rest of the year. Our UK programme is still proving to be a strong, continuing trend from 2021. However, Italy remains the most searched destination on our website, with a demand for the late summer and autumn. Portugal, Croatia, Norway, and the Greek Isles are up there amongst customer and travel agent favourites. Our end-of-the-year festive tours have also seen a rise in bookings, particularly our much-loved Lapland day trips, which are nearly sold out.”

Richard Forde concluded “After what felt like an incredibly turbulent period for the travel industry, we’re excited to see the light again and help our customers reimagine their travel plans and make their wish-list holidays come to fruition. Now really is the best time for them to book their trips and take advantage of our offers and excellently valued escorted tour packages as prices and availability will become more challenging as the year progresses.”

Newmarket Holidays is running a new offer for April, ‘Reconnect. Reimagine. Rediscover.’ which is supported by an up to 10 per cent saving on 2022 departures. For full details, see www.newmarketholidays.co.uk
