The Sunniest Spots for a last minute holiday in August, According To Met Office Data

With a late summer heatwave being predicted across England next week, a study from Uswitch has revealed the sunniest destinations to head to in August for the last staycation holiday of the summer

Looking at Met Office Data from the last 50 years, the Uswitch Sunny Staycations campaign crunched the numbers to reveal the best locations to visit in the UK for the hottest weather during August.

Coming in first place with an average temp of 21.5 degrees celsius was Gloucester. With the average rainfall across all staycation destinations coming in at 71.72mm in August, Gloucester was far below the average.

This year so far, Gloucester has seen 65mm of rainfall in August, meaning if previous numbers match up, Gloucester should hopefully be a surefire location to head to for the rest of August if you’re hoping for dry, sunny weather.

Meanwhile, Sussex came in second place, with an average temperature of 20.87℃ and just 54.75mm of average rainfall. 

West Sussex had already seen 98% of its average rainfall for August, so keen sun worshippers should place their bets on a trip to Eastbourne to catch the last of the Summer sun.

1. Gloucestershire

4. Loch Lomond
