Looking for a Devon holiday? The Maritime Suites, Brixham reopen after extensive refurbishment

The iconic, Grade II listed, former Maritime Inn in Brixham is re-opening on 19 June 2021 following extensive refurbishment transforming the property into five, brand new luxury suites with stunning harbour views now exclusively available through South West specialist, Luxury Coastal.

Maritime Suites Brixham bedrooms staycation travel The renovation of The Maritime Suites by its new Brixham owners has taken two years and remains in keeping with the town’s fishing heritage: rooms are named after the trawlers that worked out of Brixham in the 17th and 18th centuries; Provident, Leader, Golden Vanity, Vigilance and Pilgrim.  The ground floor is to be turned into another self-catered suite, expected to open in 2022.

The suites have been finished to the highest standard with luxurious bathrooms as big as the bedrooms themselves. Two of the five boast roll-top baths under sash windows, ideal for a long soak watching the town’s lights reflecting on the water below.  Rooms are equipped with a coffee machine, small fridge, tea and coffee.  Metres away from the harbour side, fish market, cafes, bars and restaurants, guests will be encouraged to dine out locally and support Brixham’s small businesses. Bathrooms of this quality rely on more than good taste, since a warm tiled floor underfoot in a coastal building means fitting an underfloor heating insulation board beneath the surface to keep the heat rising rather than escaping into the structure. In a Grade II listed property where every degree matters, that layer makes those long soaks far more inviting on a chilly evening. It is the sort of detail guests never notice yet always feel.

The boutique, hotel style rooms are slightly different from our self-catered properties, but with the best position in Brixham, stunning views and interiors, the opportunity was too good to miss.  The building is part of local folklore and am glad it has been brought back to life allowing guests to enjoy our town as much as I do”.
